What Gym Equipment is Best for Chest?

commercial gym equipment chest

Introduction

It's time for a chest day! In this article, we will discuss what gym equipment is best for developing the chest. So read this, and get straight to business, your future massive pecks await!

#1 Bench Press

There's no going around this, but the barbell bench press is absolutely the best exercise for chest development, period.

This exercise lets you target your pecs, but also has the greatest overload capacity. The more weight you lift, the bigger you get, it's simple. Because it lets you lift the most weight, the barbell bench press is the best option for developing your chest muscles.

If you don't have a barbell, doing dumbbell bench press is a great alternative. Yes, you won't be able to lift as heavy, but it is still a great movement you should definitely do.

Remember to change the incline. Doing incline bench will hit your upper pecs while doing the decline variation will target your lower pecs more.

Every commercial gym should have a whole section for chest development, with separate incline, decline, and straight benches. At home, all you need is an adjustable bench and a pair of dumbbells. Not ideal, but it works. After all, dumbbells are the best piece of exercise equipment for developing chest and arms, and most other muscle groups too.

#2 Dip Station

Dips are a terrific bodyweight movement for chest development. But, they are also great for developing triceps and even his muscles of the shoulders and upper back to some extent.

Dips are simple, but very challenging to do, especially for beginners. But, if you are a seasoned lifter, you can make them even harder by wearing a weighted belt, or by holding a dumbbell with your feet.

#3 Peck deck

Peck deck targets your chest in a different way, as you are not pressing, but squeezing the weight. This will provide a new stimulus for growth, making this exercise an excellent barbell bench press accessory, and every chest workout should include it. Every commercial gym should have this piece of gym equipment in their chest training section.

Some peck deck machines also let you train your upper back and rear delt muscles. Because these muscles work the opposite way, you can superset these exercises, and save some time. That's why peck deck is an excellent piece of gym equipment for chest and back and for losing chest fat. It is one of the rare gym machines that let you do chest exercises and then switch to training your back.

Conclusion

While pushups are great, you will have to do some other exercises too, if you want to develop a big chest. You can get all of the machines from above, as well as any additional fitness accessories at StrengthAndFitness. We offer the best prices for fitness gym sets, but also individual equipment. You will not find a better place to buy gym equipment in Ireland, guaranteed.
