How to Clean Gym Equipment

gym equipemnt

Introduction

In this article, we will talk about properly cleaning home gym equipment. You will see how it's not that hard to take care of your exercise machines. It will keep your gym equipment at home clean and long-lasting, and it will make the room more pleasant for other people too. After all, nobody likes exercising in dirty, stinky and sweaty rooms with rusty fitness gym equipment, and neither should you.

Taking Care of Commercial Gym Equipment

One of the primary reasons why we pay gym memberships is the fact that staff takes care of mostly everything for us. Their job is to obtain and maintain equipment, take care of hygiene, and keep the gym clean.

However, that doesn't mean you should be completely careless when visiting your fitness equipment center of choice. While it's true that staff will put everything back in its place, and clean the commercial gym equipment, most of what will happen after the working hours. If you leave a mess behind yourself, the chances are you will ruin the experience of the person who wants to use the same equipment after you.

So, bring a towel, and put it between the equipment and your sweaty back. After you finish, make sure there is no sweat on the equipment and clean contact areas such as handles and bars. And try to put gym weights back in place.

Our Commercial gym equipment for sale always comes with operations guidelines, and manual form the manufacturers.

Taking Care of Home Gym Equipment

The good news is that if you invest in top quality exercise equipment, it will last long, even without any maintenance. Top Quality gym equipment is made from rugged materials such as thick steel, making it almost impossible to break, especially in home conditions. But, here is what you can do to make sure everything lasts as long as possible:

    • Clean the dust - because most gym machines remain in place forever, they are prone to collecting dust. And cleaning it is super annoying as you can't move those heavy machines that easily. But, you need to do the best you can. Use a vacuum cleaner and dusters to get rid of the dust once per week. But, once per month, thoroughly go through your whole home gym and wipe the equipment with a wet cloth.

    • Use a towel - not only that you should use a towel, but you should behave with even greater care at your home gym, than at a commercial one. The main reason why is that nobody will clean after you. Therefore, use a towel, but also wipe down equipment after use. Leaving sweat on weights can create corrosion, and it can also damage the material on your benches, which is something you want to avoid.

    •  Do light maintenance - while most gym equipment rarely breaks, you should still take some light care of it. Cable machines are more prone to wear and tear, and you should regularly check them for any signs of weakness and replace them. Some even recommend you to do this once per year, but that heavily depends on how much you use the equipment.

      Conclusion

As you can see, taking care of (home) gym exercise equipment is not super complicated. As long as you do it regularly, your fitness equipment will last longer, and you won't have any issues with it.
